Description
During strong flood periods, road culverts are often overwhelmed, resulting in damages to the road and preventing traffic from circulating. The Laboratoire Géotran at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, in collaboration with the Direction territoriale de l'ouest de la Montérégie (Transport Québec), is currently studying the relationship between the area of the basins drained by the culverts and their diameters. The primary objective of this research is to propose a method to identify culverts that are most vulnerable to strong flooding according to their drainage capacity. This map was produced for the presentation of the research project to properly situate a portion of the territory being studied, located in Montérégie.
