Presenter Biographies
KAREN STEWART - ESRI Canada Industry Manager Public Works
Karen Stewart has over 25 years experience in Public Works and GIS. She is Past President of URISA BC, The Vice Chair of URISA National's Chapter Relations Committee, the chair of the advisory board for the degree program in GIS at BCIT and a Member at Large for GITA.
She holds a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Geomatics, specializing in GIS, from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and during her career has been involved in the project management and implementation of many new IT, GIS and CAD technologies. These projects include creating a link between CAD and GIS at the City of Surrey as well as setting standards for and implementing Digital Submission Process for Legal Survey Plans and As-built drawings. She was instrumental in establishing a link between the township of Langley's GIS to existing enterprise systems and has written many technology focused white papers and articles which are published in books, magazines and on the Internet. She looks forward to continuing to be involved in the IT and GIS community and anticipates great advances in future IT and GIS technologies.
BARRY KELLY - ESRI Canada Public Works and Engineering Solutions
Barry Kelly has over 20 years experience working with CAD/GIS technologies supporting municipal needs. He is a member and past Director with the Ontario Public Works Association, and long time member with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA), and Municipal Information Systems Association (MISA).
Prior to joining ESRI canada, Barry worked as an Account Manager and Applications Engineer with Autodesk Canada, taught GIS and CAD at Humber and Seneca Colleges, and has been an independent consultant to various private and public organizations.
