GIS Day 2009 will take place on Wednesday, November 18, during the National Geographic Society's Geography Awareness Week. GIS Day plays a powerful role in creating geographic awareness throughout our world. GIS Day celebrations educate millions of children and adults in more than 80 countries on the benefits of geography and the role that geographic information system (GIS) technology plays in support of geography.
