Scenario
Princess Street, the main street in Kingston, Ontario is going to be resurfaced and rebuilt over the course of two months. The City of Kingston has issued a contract which states this work must be completed by August. Unfortunately, this construction coincides with prime tourist season during the summer months. The municipality of Kingston has agreed to compensate businesses 1000 dollars each for this loss of revenue. However, the council has decided that it will limit the extent of its compensation to businesses that are within 50 meters of the street.
Before you begin this lesson you will need to download the data that is used throughout the exercise. The dataset for this lesson is available in .ZIP or .EXE format. Using the .EXE file, the data will be extracted to the correct folder when you double-click the downloaded file to execute it. If you are unable to download the .EXE file due to your network or service provider's security measures, download the .ZIP file and be sure to extract the data to the folder indicated in the lesson instructions.
