Survey: GIS in Outdoor EducationSurveying is an integral skill in being part of the outdoors. In this activity you will be gaining outdoor educational skills in compass reading, data recording, sketching, and taking accurate measurements. You take the data gathered in the field and bring it into ArcView for manipulation and analysis. This is an example of a rudimentary surveying activity that you, as educators, can also perform with students. In bringing the results into a GIS, you will learn that ArcView is a tool that can be used to enhance your activity in appearance, organization, and functionality
