Open File 2005-2 "The Digital Geology of British Columbia"
Description
The Geology Map of British Columbia is a 1:1,000,000 scale two-map series showing the province's lithology based geology. This compilation, last produced in 1976, incorporates the results of field surveys by BC Geological Survey geologists and their colleagues from the federal government and universities.
The map is a critical tool intended for use by prospectors and mineral exploration companies to identify areas for new mines, geologists to assess concerns about local natural hazards, and teachers to explain the geology in their local area. PDF format maps are available for free and can be downloaded from the Ministry website at: http://www.em.gov.bc.ca/Mining/Geolsurv/Publications/GeoMaps/GM2005-3/toc.htm
