Description
Ontario's Forest Fire Management Strategy is designed to help ensure that people, property and natural ecosystems in the province are protected from the negative impacts that may be associated with forest fires.

Under the Strategy, Ontario is divided into six fire management zones, based on similarities in eco-region, fire load, resource management objectives, and values at risk.  Fire management objectives and direction for each are flexible and offers a range of response options for managing forest fires, while supporting the objectives of Ontario's Forest Fire Management Program which are:

1) To prevent personal injury, value loss, and social disruption resulting from a forest fire.
2) To promote understanding of the ecological role of fire, and utilize its beneficial effects in resource management.
