Description
The Say Nuth Khaw Yum Heritage Park / Indian Arm Provincial Park Bioregional Inventory Atlas is part of the first phase in the collaborative development of a park management plan by the Tsleil-Waututh Nation and the Government of British Columbia.

The layers of the Atlas not only speaks to the biophysical, cultural, and recreational aspects of the Park but it also tells the story of the "The People of the Inlet", whom from time out of mind have used the land, water and resources of the entire Indian Arm area.

The "Terrestrial Species" map shown here was created through oral histories and traditional use studies by Tsleil-Waututh elders and community members in combination with western-based research. It is one example of the innovative ways the Tsleil-Waututh Nation have used GIS technology to create a legacy of images that honours and celebrates their people, culture, and traditional territory.
