Project ResourcesData modelsWith the ArcGIS platform, the ESRI Canada vision is to build many industry-specific data models. Our basic goals are to simplify the process of implementing projects, and to promote and support standards that exist in our user communities. ESRI Canada facilitates collaboration between academic and industry leaders to create and design data model templates that can be used directly with the ArcGIS platform. The results are data models that can be implemented for each of the industries and scientific disciplines that ESRI serves. Prototype Ontario Integrated Municipal Data ModelThe purpose of the prototype Ontario Integrated Municipal Data Model is to integrate parcel, address, street centreline, and administrative area domains in a single model. This model will ultimately consist of a UML data model, standard maintenance use cases, and references to standard ArcGIS and third party solutions. The goal is to create a standard Ontario Geodatabase Model that can be used as a template for implementation in Ontario Municipalities, and facilitate migration from earlier ESRI technologies. This model may also be expanded to other jurisdictions in the near future. The model is based on the ArcGIS Urban Data Model, which in turn is based on vertical data models including the ArcGIS Parcel Data Model, the ArcGIS Transportation Data Model, the ArcGIS Administrative Boundaries data model, and others. The model is designed to be easily extended using other ArcGIS data models such as the ArcGIS Water and Wastewater models, or simplified for basic parcel mapping. ESRI Canada is publishing this model to foster discussion and collaboration among the user base.
