Ottawa, ON - Canadian agencies, organizations, and companies are invited to attend the Canadian Interoperability Day hosted by the Geoconnections Program of Natural Resources Canada and ESRI Canada on Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ottawa. Federal and provincial/territorial governments, industry, academia, and geomatics associations from Canada and around the world will be on hand showcasing their products and discussing the benefits of interoperability enabled by open interfaces and encodings that comply with the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) OpenGIS specifications.

"The reasons for attending the Canadian Interoperability Day are numerous," said Lucie Séguin, Acting Director, GeoConnections. "Participants will learn about the vision of GeoConnections, the architecture, standards, and services of the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure; they will see a showcase of CGDI tools and applications and they will be able to explore users' contributions thus far to the CGDI."

"This event will demonstrate to participants the benefits that have grown from interoperability standards development and from the GeoConnections program," said Gordon Plunkett, Director, Spatial Data Infrastructure, ESRI Canada.

Registration is limited. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register before March 30th, 2007 to avoid disappointment. Feel free to share this invitation with other interested parties who may benefit from participation in the Canadian Interoperability Day.
