Product Overview

Routing and Scheduling Solutions on Your Desktop

ArcLogistics Route is a complete fleet management and vehicle routing solution for complex routing and scheduling problems. Use ArcLogistics Route to determine which vehicle should serve each customer location and the best stop sequence to accommodate your customers' time windows while minimizing travel time. ArcLogistics Route maximizes route optimization by taking into account actual network drive times, vehicle characteristics, renewal points for loading, vehicle capacity, and more. After solving your routing problems, ArcLogistics Route will export routes and schedules back to your database or print routes with driving directions.

Affordable Technology

Using ArcLogistics Route, you can realize savings of 10 to 30 percent in terms of mileage, overtime, and time spent routing your fleet. Increasing efficiency means that each vehicle can visit at least one additional customer location per day. ArcLogistics Route typically pays for itself in less than three months.

Route Optimization with a GIS-Based Approach

Unlike other vehicle routing and scheduling software, ArcLogistics Route uses a GIS-based approach to take advantage of true street network topology to accurately model time and distance.

The best route optimization algorithms will generate grossly inaccurate results if the underlying time and distance data are not correct.

ArcLogistics Route loads the geometric network (i.e., x,y coordinates representing streets and highways) from a map database into a logical network that can be accessed by route optimization solvers. Logical networks contain information about topology and can store the true connectivity of the network so that overpasses, underpasses, one-way streets, speed limits, and turn restriction conditions can be accurately modeled.

This accurate representation of the travel network, combined with state-of-the-art route optimization techniques, results in a fleet routing and delivery solution that is closer to optimal and much more practical.

Routing as the Crow Flies Does Not Work

Traditional route optimization software that is not based on GIS technology determines the ideal sequence that each address is visited using Euclidean or "as-the-crow-flies" distance. This can be extremely inaccurate and cause gross underestimations of mileage that lead to overcommitments, blown appointment times, miscalculation of overtime potential, and inaccurate load balancing.

ArcLogistics Route allows route optimization algorithms to build routes using accurate, geography-based time and distance derived from street network data. Drive times are more realistic, appointment times promised to customers can be kept, overtime is minimized, and the workload can be accurately balanced.

ArcLogistics Route finds the shortest path between stops in terms of time and distance but also evaluates and fine-tunes the initial clustering. Stops are swapped within and between routes to further reduce mileage. The advanced route optimization algorithms in ArcLogistics Route combined with a GIS street database enable companies to become more efficient and cut costs versus using manual methods or as-the-crow-flies vehicle routing software.

Who Uses ArcLogistics Route?

For couriers and messengers, speed counts. In the food and beverage industry, freshness is paramount. In the furniture and retail business, timely delivery is vital. And in local government, service is key.

In all these delivery settings, efficiency-in time, money, and resources-is the bottom line. Whether it's strict business rules or matched pairs, scheduling routes or modeling bids, ArcLogistics Route gives you the power and flexibility needed for fleet management and delivery routing from your desktop.
