Will the Geodatabase Toolset fix problems?

No. The Geodatabase Toolset provides a collection of tools that are used to prevent, monitor, and investigate geodatabase performance. It will not change ArcSDE, geodatabase, ArcMap, or MXD configuration characteristics. It is the responsibility of the user to

  1. Choose the correct tools to investigate a problem.
  2. Perform the analysis on the collected information.
  3. Make the appropriate changes needed to correct the problem.

How do I get the Geodatabase Toolset?

You can Download the Geodatabase Toolset for free. The installation is a self-extracting executable.

What kind of documentation, support, and help is available?

The Geodatabase Toolset includes a Help Online file found in ArcMap Help>GDBT Help. Additional documentation will be provided at this Web site when it becomes available.

Technical support is not available for the Geodatabase Toolset. However, you may send inquiries to enttesttools@esri.com.

I have Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 installed. Do I need Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1?

Yes. You can download the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1. You can have both versions simultaneously installed on your machine. The Geodatabase Toolset download also requires the ArcGIS Desktop .NET Support Feature. See the .NET requirements for more information. 

.NET requirements

To successfully download your product, you must have Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 and the ESRI .NET Support Feature for ArcGIS.   ArcGIS requires that you have Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 to download the ESRI .NET Support Feature for ArcGIS.

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1

To check for Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1, go to Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools. If you do not currently have Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1, or have Version 2.0, you can download Version 1.1 onto your system. Please note that both versions can exist on your system simultaneously.

ESRI .NET Support Feature for ArcGIS

To check for the ESRI .NET Support Feature for ArcGIS, navigate to the location on your hard drive where you installed ArcGIS Desktop and look for the DotNet folder. For example, go to C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\DotNet. If you do not find the DotNet folder, follow the instructions below for installing the ESRI .NET Support Feature for ArcGIS.

To add the ESRI .NET Support Feature, you will need to access ArcGIS either on CD or via your network. Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, select ArcGIS Desktop, and click Change.

When the message window appears, either insert the ArcGIS Desktop CD into your disk drive or browse to the source for ArcGIS Desktop on your network and click OK. When the ArcGIS Setup window appears, select Modify and click Next. Select .NET Support, click Next, and follow the instructions to install the ESRI .NET Support Feature for ArcGIS.
