System Requirements
System requirements for MapObjects-Java Edition are based on your product version and platform configuration.
MapObjects-Java Edition and applications built with MapObjects-Java Edition are supported on Red Hat Linux, Sun Solaris, Mac OS X, HP-UX, IBM AIX, and Windows.
MapObjects-Java Edition has been developed using
- J2SE platform, Java 2 Software Development Kit (SDK), Standard Edition, version 1.4.1
- Java Advanced Imaging 1.1 for image transparency and enhanced display performance
- Java Secure Socket Extension 1.0.2
- Java Foundation Classes (JFC)/Swing
The recommended system requirements are as follows
- Java 2 Standard Edition Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.4.x
- 128 MB RAM (256 MB RAM or more recommended)
- VGA or higher resolution monitor (graphics card required)
- Hard disk space (approximately 200 MB with full install)
MapObjects-Java Edition applications and applets can be developed in many Java programming environments. For example, a developer can use a Java 2 SDK environment as well as numerous, different IDEs such as Borland's JBuilder and Sun ONE Studio.
Examples are provided to guide the developer in using MapObjects-Java Edition components on the server side in J2EE applications. MapObjects-Java Edition has been successfully tested with WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss with Tomcat, and Sun ONE J2EE application servers.
