Tools for Creating Database-driven Aeronautical Charting Products
Aeronautical Solution includes tools and functionality to enable database-driven cartographic production of aeronautical charts. The software is configured to support the U.S. defense specifications for Enroute and Area Arrival Charts Depicting Terrain Data (AACDTD) as well as AIXM-based Eurocontrol charts. The software provides direct loading of digital changes and a change verification workflow environment. With user customization, other similar aeronautical products can be created with Aeronautical Solution.
Within Aeronautical Solution, quality control, cartographic product generation, and workflow management components exist. GIS Data ReViewer enables users to maintain data quality throughout a project, including data change review, while Map Production System facilitates the production of cartographic products.

Why Use Aeronautical Solution?
Aeronautical Solution combines cartographic editing tools, database models, aeronautical symbols and styles, and workflow management components to enable a streamlined chart production environment. Because the system is completely database-driven, data is truly "one-touch." Features that exist on multiple charts or products exist as one collection of objects in the database, instead of stand-alone graphics, as is the case with most existing systems. Whether the user has an automated data feed or is building charting data with the PLTS for ArcGIS editing tools, the process contains quality control and work efficiency tools to make the process of creating complex aeronautical charts straightforward.
Additionally, Aeronautical Solution is configured to load Aeronautical Information eXchange Model (AIXM), the new XML standard for aeronautical data exchange. The AIXM "loading" capability is part of a subset of tools within Aeronautical Solution implemented to support creation of Eurocontrol planning and airspace management charts.
