    GIS has become a core information infrastructure for the Peel Regional Police. GIS is used to support many aspects of policing including criminal investigations, police dispatch, tactical operations, community policing, and emergency planning.

  • Managing Land Owner Information in the Oil and Gas Industry
    Polar Geomatics, a company based in Red Deer, Alberta that focuses on GIS solutions for the oil and gas industry, has developed a land owner information database (LOID) application to support oil and gas companies in the province of Alberta. With LOID oil and gas companies have access to upto- date parcel and landowner information that allows them to accurately know who needs to be contacted in case of an emergency near oil and gas operations.

  • The National Summer Institute for Statistical and GIS Analysis of Crime and Justice Data
    The Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRCC) and Statistics Canada have awarded the University of Regina a grant over three years to implement an institute for the advanced training of statistical and GIS analysis of crime and justice data.
