  • County of Essex's Asset Management Solution / Le comté d'Essex solution de gestion des actifs
After an extensive competitive process, the County of Essex (Ontario) including the lower tier municipalities have selected ESRI Canada to implement a complete asset management solution. The solution will take advantage of the already existing ArcGIS foundation to provide the county's public works departments with a spatially-enabled asset management system.

In today's changing government environment, municipalities are facing tighter budgets, amalgamation, staff reductions, and increasingly higher demands. In addition, changes to municipal legislation and liability concerns are putting tremendous pressure on municipalities to maintain accurate and up-to-date accountings of assets including locations, conditions, and life-cycles.

Ontario's innovative online mining information system has won a prestigious national award, besting private and public sector competition from across the country.

  • Batch Vectorization with ArcScan
Converting paper maps to a digital format is often a time consuming and tedious task that involves heads up or tablet digitizing. ArcScan is an ArcGIS extension that can be used to create vector data from raster imagery. This method of creating vector data is often faster and more accurate than other manual methods. This process is known as batch vectorization. In this tutorial you will convert parcel data from a georeferenced .tif to a polyline shapefile.

  • Disconnected Editing
The process of disconnected editing has been developed to facilitate the ability to edit data while disconnected from the central database. The concept of disconnected editing simply involves checking data out from an enterprise geodatabase (ArcSDE) into a personal geodatabase, editing this data, and then uploading the data back into the ArcSDE geodatabase.

In 1999, Nutrient Management Bylaws were put in place in the County of Oxford's five rural townships. Nutrient management plans are triggered by the expansion or new construction of large livestock housing, in accordance with the Township Nutrient Management Bylaws. In 2002, the Province of Ontario passed the Nutrient Management Act, regulating nutrient management for certain livestock operations. Currently, both regimes are in place, affecting nutrient management across a broad spectrum of livestock operations.

  • ArcGIS Server (Bilingual)
ArcGIS Server 9.0 is a new product from ESRI to be released as part of the ArcGIS 9.0 suite of products. ArcGIS Server is designed to deploy sophisticated GIS functionality from centralized servers to support enterprise GIS implementations and applications. ArcGIS Server provides the framework for developers to create focused GIS web applications and services that can be utilized by clients including browser-based applications, custom desktop applications, ArcGIS Desktop, and ArcGIS Engine applications. The entire ArcGIS architecture is built and extended using software components called ArcObjects. ArcObjects are at the core of all ArcGIS products including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Engine, and ArcGIS Server.
